● 1959年、エリザベス女王が参加した品評会でのエピソード ●
1959年の品評会では、英国エリザベス女王がここの紅茶を絶賛！ いまから約４０年前、このオカイティー茶園の紅茶を飲んだエリザベス女王は、イギリスからわざわざ茶園宛に、絶賛の手紙を送ったという。。。。
そして、エリザベス女王が、この紅茶のことを「OKAY! TEA!」 （OKな紅茶）といいました。
当時、ランドゥー「Rangdoo」茶園という名前だったのですが、このことにより、オカイティー「OKAYTI」茶園という茶園名が改名されました。（西暦1960年のこと）
まさに、英国エリザベス女王に愛され、絶賛され、名前まで名づけられた茶園 です。

Subba also proundly says that in 1959, special gift
presentation of these fine tea were made to the British
monarch, Queen Elizabeth ; the Indian Prime Minister, Jawaharial
Nehru ; and the Russian Prremier Krushchev. Letters of
appreciation from them are preserved as part of this garden's pround
heritage.
